The glossy ads on TV and in magazines are so much more glamorous.

Thanks for putting this out there. I had thought about breast reduction surgery (36G here) but not seriously. My husband talked me out of it. He was concerned about anestisia and infection. He said if it was absolutely necessary he would support me but he didn't think surgery of any kind was to be taken lightly and should be a course of last resort in most cases.JennyRosehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03056964938226575765noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-32482128.post-27169391421797085072011-01-21T06:57:01.485-08:002011-01-21T06:57:01.485-08:00Also, in the US, who would chose to have gastric b...Also, in the US, who would chose to have gastric bypass if they knew that it could prevent them from buying individual (not job-related) health insurance for the rest of their lives? I was shocked to learn that from documents linked to in this Slate article this week: http://www.slate.com/id/2281588/

So ironic, that the surgery everyone pushes to "save your life" is such a big risk that you are only insurable after five years at a stable weight with no complications!Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01525184703778269228noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-32482128.post-56202362963596781502011-01-21T05:41:53.473-08:002011-01-21T05:41:53.473-08:00Excellent post about the risks of weight loss surg...Excellent post about the risks of weight loss surgery. I think we take it for granted that "everyone" comes out of surgery alive and healthy. The reality is a bit different. Elective cosmetic surgery falls into the same category, as far as I'm concerned--not worth the risk.E. Janehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04079110676794095541noreply@blogger.com
